Breaking the Silence Podcast

"Breaking the Silence" is On PAR's storytelling project, where People of Color and their co-conspirators share experiences of race and racism in the Arlington Central School District.

We take inspiration in this project from The Truth Telling Project, which, in the words of Maria Hantzopoulos and Monisha Bajaj, “embraces storytelling as a form of resilience and dissent, centers marginalized narratives, places truth in the foreground, and considers intergenerational trauma and struggle as part of the process of transformation and resistance. At the heart of the work are narratives and stories, framed by shared experiences of racial violence (structural, direct, and cultural) that are deeply rooted in the fabric of the United States…these counter-narratives, much like the in the tradition of critical race theory, not only interrupt dominant narratives that circulate but also serve as a form of collective and community agency.”
